Mongra is the top grade of Kashmiri saffron: the stigma cut free of the style, so what you get is all red thread and no pale tail. It is the grade with the deepest colour strength, and the one most often imitated.
This lot was hand picked in Pampore, dried in the shade rather than in the sun, and graded by hand. Every batch is sent to an accredited lab before it is packed, and the full report is published against the batch code on the label. If the code on your vial does not resolve to a report, it did not come from us.
How to use it
Steep a pinch in two tablespoons of warm milk or water for twenty minutes, then add the liquid and the threads together. Do not add saffron to hot oil and do not grind it dry unless a recipe asks for it.
Storage
Keep the vial closed, away from light and heat. Saffron does not spoil quickly but it does fade. Colour strength falls off well before the threads look any different.
